About

Mile Highdrogen is a senior design team in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Colorado Denver consisting of the following members:

[L-R] Marcel Sorel, Tony Nguyen, Loi Ngo, Mark Maceda, Keith Nguyen, Michael Dennison

During the two-term project oriented capstone course we will design and fabricate a highly efficient hydrogen fueled car.

The vehicle will be a single passenger, three-wheeled electric motor prototype capable of a high distance-to-consumption rate on the order of 2000 mpg*; all the while, producing close to zero negative emissions.

We will test our vehicle against the other top engineering schools of the western hemisphere at the Shell Eco Marathon Americas (SEMA). A highly regarded educational design competition, SEMA will be a platform used to present our design as well as represent our school and sponsors on an international scale.

A design that accomplishes these goals will promote the use of alternative energies in the consumer market as well as progress transportation technology in a positive direction.

Details concerning the design and build of the vehicle:

Body:
  • 3 Wheel Platform
  • Frameless Composite Monocoque
  • Plexiglass Windshield & Windows
  • Integrated Aluminum Firewall Plate
Steering:
  • Front-wheel Steering
  • Conventional Rack & Pinion
  • Throttle and Brake integrated onto steering wheel
Motor:
  • Rear-Wheel Drive
  • 3 DC Servo Motors integrated into rear axle
  • Proton exchange membrane fuel cell that converts hydrogen gas to electricity
